Configure Inform to automatically print safety data sheets of products on an order during ship confirmation. This worfkflow requires set up on the product and customer levels.
Tip: SDS should be saved as PDF documents for optimal printing.
Recommended: Install PDF reading software to view the PDF documents before printing.
Set up product SDS
Safety Data Sheets (SDS) must be linked to products before they can be printed during ship confirmation. See Link Images and attachments.
Specify the date of update in the Date Changes field on the General tab in the Product Master. SDS that have not been printed for the customer since they were updated are marked with a check to indicate that they should be printed.
Set up customers to receive the SDS
Customers who receive SDS with their orders should have the Auto Print SDS check box selected on the General tab of the Customer Master.
You can also select this option for groups of customers through Customer Mass Change. Choose SDS Auto Print as your field to change and check the box for any customers who should have their SDS print. For instructions on making mass changes, see the Update data in bulk using mass change.
Auto Print SDS Workflow
When an order contains products with SDS attached, you will be prompted to print the SDS after saving the confirmation and printing the Shipping Confirmation document.
Once the Shipping Confirmation has printed, a pop up displays all products on the order that have an SDS linked to them in the Product Master.
Select the check box beside documents you want to display when the Print button is clicked. You can then print documents can then be printed from the PDF viewer. Inform automatically checks any documents that have been changed since the last time the customer purchased the item.
