Unless they are on a Web Contract, customers can select from any products that you have published to the web. All active customers may place orders. Customers set up as prospects or with a status of on hold, inactive, or legal in Inform's Customer Master can save shopping lists but cannot order products.
- Choose your product in one of the following ways:
- Featured: On the Home page, click the More Info button beneath any Featured Product.
- Category: On the menu bar, click Shop by Category.
From the menu that appears, choose the types of products you want to order.
Find the subcategory, and then click View Products.
- Search: On the right side of the header bar, type what you want to find into the search box, and then click the magnifying glass.
This box displays on your site by default. To restrict customers from searching for items, mark the Hide Search Box field on the Options tab in the Inform eCommerce Screen.
Note: You may also be able to shop using the order pad or shopping lists. See Select products from the Order Pad (eCommerce) and Reorder products from a shopping list (eCommerce)
- Featured: On the Home page, click the More Info button beneath any Featured Product.
- Click the product that you want to order.
- On the Product Details page that appears, review a description and pricing for the product.
- You may be able to view warehouse locations where this product is in stock, if the seller has enabled it: drop down the Warehouse Inventory list.
This link displays only if you have marked Show Warehouse Inventory in the Inform eCommerce Screen (Main tab).
- Optional: If there are additional documents such as spec sheets available, you can click to download and view them.
- Optional: Choose accessories. Either click an accessory to view and add it one at a time, or click in the Accessories Quantity box and type the number of each accessory you want, and then click the Add to Cart button beside it. All accessories are added to the cart.
- Optional: If the product is not available or you want to see alternatives, then click Substitutes. If available, you may choose a product from this list instead.
- To order the product, type the Quantity you want, and then click Add to Cart. The Shopping Cart updates with the products you added.
- After you have added products to your cart, you can browse for additional items or Manage your shopping cart (eCommerce) and Check out (eCommerce).
Note: The system will verify whether users are authorized to purchase products requiring certification codes. Add or review a customer's Product Certification Codes in the Inform Customer Master. See Configure global customer eCommerce options for more information.
