You may configure eCommerce to allow quotes as well as sales orders. Quoting may be useful for products to which you cannot set a fixed price due to local availability or other limitations. To enable this functionality, you must enable customers to generate quotes from the shopping cart, and then optionally generate sales orders from quotes.
You can then enable those quotes to be visible within eCommerce.

Select Allow Generation of Quote from Shopping Cart (Customer Master, Setup, Web Options)Displays a "This is a Price Quote box" on the Shopping Cart page in eCommerce. This option allows customers to save Shopping Cart items to a Price Quote. Customer contacts can convert orders to quotes only if they are set up as authorized buyers and have permission to approve pending sales orders. and/or Allow Generation of Sales Order from Quote
Displays a "Convert to Sales Order" button at the bottom of the Quote Details page. Allows users to convert Price Quotes to sales orders. Contacts must be set up with the appropriate Access Level ("Price Quote") to convert quotes or change quantities and prices when converting a quote.
A Price Quote may be converted to a sales order as long as it has not expired. Expiration dates for quotes display on the Price Quotes page. as described in Configure global customer eCommerce options

- Go to File>Company>Inform eCommerce.
- On the left navigation bar, click Options.
- Click Edit.
- To prevent customers from viewing open quotes on the eCommerce Price Quotes page, select the Hide Quotes Display check box. Click Save.
- To hide individual quotes (rather than all quotes) from the website, select the Suppr From Web box under Quote on the Sales>Order>Sales Order, Header tab.
