The Authorize.Net Setup option allows you to link your Authorize.Net account with Inform for credit card processing. This screen is only accessible by purchasing the Authorize.Net module.
- Go to File > Company >Authorize. Net.
- Optionally, you can configure a separate Authorize.Net account for each Branch. Any Branch left blank will default to the Company Authorize.Net account. You can setup your account for the Company by leaving the Branch field blank.
- Choose the Account Type:
- Card Present: Use for retail locations where the card is "swiped" using credit card readers. The Card Present account type typically dictates that an employee enters the credit card information.
- It is not possible to save customer credit card data for future transactions when using a Card Present account type.
- Authorize.Net has discontinued Card Present type for new accounts (existing accounts are still supported).
- Card Not Present: Use for both retail locations where the card is "swiped" using credit card readers and for online eCommerce credit card transactions (where no employee is present to verify the credit card information).
- Customer credit card data can be stored for use in future transactions by activating Customer Information Management from your Authorize.Net account. No additional setup is required with Inform to enabled this feature.
- Card Present: Use for retail locations where the card is "swiped" using credit card readers. The Card Present account type typically dictates that an employee enters the credit card information.
- The API Login & Transaction Key allow Inform to link to your Authorize.Net account. Follow these steps to obtain this information:
API Login
- Log into the merchant interface at https://secure.authorize.net. You will need to use the login id and password that were created when you activated the account.
- In the left hand menu, click Settings.
- Under Security Settings, click API Login ID and Transaction Key.
The API Login appears.
Transaction Key
The Transaction Key is given at the time of account activation. If it was not recorded at that time, a new Transaction Key will need to be obtained.
- Under Create a New Transaction Key, answer the secret question (this was set up during the initial account activation).
- Make sure to check Disable Old Transaction Key(s). This will ensure the new key is immediately effective.
- Click Submit. A new transaction key will displayed.
- When Test mode is enabled, transactions will be submitted to Authorize.Net but flagged as test transactions. These transactions will not be deposited into your bank account. During this time you can validate that Authorize.Net can communicate with Inform. Note however that successful test transactions only get sent to Authorize.Net. "Live" transactions should still be tested to ensure that Authorize.Net can communicate with your bank or merchant provider.
- Expanded Credit Capabilities (ECC) allows you to process credits for transactions that were not originally processed through Authorize.Net. Note that this feature must be enabled on your Authorize.Net account.
Note: When ready to begin processing payments, please be sure to take your Authorize.Net account out of test mode in both Inform and through your Authorize.Net account.
