Some products may be classified as hazardous materials and require additional safety information for the customer and special handling when shipping. You can create, edit, and delete hazardous material codes for your products, as well as get a list of all hazardous material classifications.
After you set up the hazardous material classifications, you should assign that classification to the appropriate product. Hazmat codes may be assigned to the appropriate products through the Product Master or Mass Change: see Create and edit products and Update data in bulk using mass change.

- Go to File > Product > Hazardous Material - DOT.
- Click New.
- In the DOT Haz Mat box, using up to 7 characters, type a brief description of the hazardous material classification, and then press the Tab key.
- Type the Shipping Name of the material. You may use up to three lines.
- Complete the information on the DOT ID#
The identification number of the hazardous material, as designated by the DOT., Freight Class
The freight class required to ship products with this hazmat classification., Package Group
The package group specifications for products with this hazmat classification., and Hazmat Class
The DOT designated class for products with this hazmat classification.. For more information, see Hazmat Transportation Requirements.
- To add a note to print above the shipping name, click the Remarks tab, and type your comments there.
- Click Save. You can now assign this hazmat classification to products.

You can add notes that will print on the Ship Confirmation, Stock Transfer, and Truck Manifest.
- Go to File > Product >Hazardous Material - DOT.
- In the DOT Haz Mat box, type or search
for the hazardous material classification that you want to edit. Press the Tab key.
- Click the Shipping Note button.

- Click Edit.
- Type your notes, and then click Save.

- Go to File > Product > Master.
- In the Product box, type or search for the Product you want to classify as a hazardous material.
- Click Edit.
- In the Haz Mat box, click
and then choose the Hazardous Material classification of the product.
- Click Save.

- Go to File > Product >Hazardous Material - DOT.
- In the DOT Haz Mat box, type or search
for the hazardous material classification that you want to edit. Press the Tab key.
- Click Edit.
- Update the information, as described above.
- Click Save.

- Edit a the hazardous material classification as described above.
- Click Delete.
- On the Confirmation message that appears, click OK.

- Go to File > Product >Hazardous Material - DOT.
- Click Report.
- On the Field Selection pop-up that appears, you can choose which fields appear. Drag the fields into the Print Order area, and then click OK.
- On the Print Document pop-up, click View.
