A split payment is one that includes partial payments of any combination of cash, check, or credit.
- Complete your sales order as described in Create a sales order.
- Click the Final tab.
- Click Edit.
- Select the Point of Sale check box.
For this example, we'll split the payment between cash and a credit card.
- In the Tendered box, type the amount paid in cash, and then click the Cash button.
The amount you entered is applied to the payments, with the subtotal remaining.
- Now in the Tendered box, type the amount to pay by credit.
Drop down the Card Type list and choose Use Processor if the customer will swipe the card at the counter, or the card type if you will be entering manually.
Click Credit, and process the credit payment as you would normally.
- Click Save.
The Invoice total shows a balance of Zero.
And the Payments tab shows the payment Type as split.
Note: After you save, you may have the option to post the payment to accounts receivable using the Post to A/R button.
