Label printers can be used to streamline warehouse operations by providing labels for Products, Bin Locations, Shipping Labels, Staged Orders, and Repair Service Tags. Inform supports both Direct Thermal and Thermal Transfer printers. To decide which type of label printer is right for you, please review this article. DDI System provides support for the models listed below. Alternate printers meeting the required specifications may be compatible, though DDI cannot guarantee this nor provide extensive troubleshooting:

Note: The printer must be installed on the same network at the DDI Server. Please be sure to order the printer with the 10/100 Ethernet port option.

The Direct Thermal is recommended for most users for its cost effectiveness. For more durable labels or harsher environments (extreme temperatures or outdoor use) consider a Thermal Transfer model instead.
Note: Labels are designed for either Direct Thermal or Thermal Transfer, so be sure to order labels compatible with your device

Inventory > Print Product Labels
This screen can be used to create a batch of products to produce labels for. The product number is embedded within the barcode. If the product has a unique UPC Number, this will be embedded within the barcode instead.
Optionally, labels can be auto printed at the time of PO Receiving. In the Product Master (on the General tab), assign a default Product Label Code to an item. Once set, the next time a receiving occurs for the product a prompt will appear to print labels.
Available Sizes: 1” x 4” | 2.5” x 4” | 4” x 4”

Point of Sale labels are intended for showroom/counters. These are smaller 1.5” x 2” labels that can optionally include a price. This price is derived from a Price Matrix formula. Set a formula for a Customer Category. For this formula to be applied to the label, navigate to File> Company > Master and enter the category code in the following setting:
Customer Category Price for POS Labels.
Available Sizes: 1.5” x 2”

Warehouse > Bin Locations
Click the Labels button located on the bottom toolbar. From here select a starting and ending bin range. This allows an entire aisle or warehouse section to be printed simultaneously. To print a single label, simply enter the same location for both starting and ending.
Available Sizes: 1” x 4” | 2.5” x 4” | 4” x 4”

Warehouse > Sales Order Shipping Labels
Most commonly used for pallet labels. This includes the customer information and can be used by warehouse staff when loading delivery trucks, and again by drivers when unloading the truck.
Available Sizes: 2.5” x 4”

Warehouse > Sales Order Staging
These are used to label products with the customer and order number that the inventory is reserved for. This helps ensure the warehouse does not pick this product while it is being held for a specific order. Note that the first line of External Comments prints beneath the product description and is commonly used to enter a staged location.
Available Sizes: 2.5” x 4”

When providing repair services, key information about the repair such as the serial number, customer, and comments can be printed and applied to the product. These will print out automatically upon saving a sales order with a repair item (the repair setting can be applied in the Product Master).
Note: This label is unique in that it prints using the ZPL printer language. The printer used must support this language.
Available Sizes: 2.5” x 4”

If required, DDI System can provide customized labels for a professional services fee. These can include unique size requirements, additional information, customer specific shipping labels, etc.
